Silence [2006 TW Drama]
24 March, 2009 – 7:08 pmI am right now watching Silence, a 2006 Taiwanese drama, in addition to watching TVB dramas E.U. and Wasabi Mon Amour. This is my third Taiwanese drama in recent weeks following I Do and Miss No Good. I have to say that these three Taiwanese dramas did not disappoint and I think I am getting hooked on Taiwanese dramas already, as if getting addicted to Cantonese and Korean dramas isn’t enough!
Silence, though, is not a typical Taiwanese drama because the three main leads are from Taiwan, South Korean and Hong Kong. There’s Vic Zhou (Taiwan) of F4 fame, Park Eun Hye (South Korea) of Dae Jang Geum (K-drama) fame and popular actor/singer Andy Hui (Hong Kong).
I have only watched until episode 7 but from what I read online, like popular Korean dramas, this one will have a tragic ending. I bet I will cry watching this. Unlike typical Korean dramas, Silence is a very quiet drama; speaking parts aren’t too many and as a viewer, you have to read the emotions on the faces of the main actors. What a change from the screaming and shouting of Korean dramas!
You know, I am beginning to like Taiwanese dramas now, after trying to avoid it for a long time because I did not have an enjoyable time watching Taiwanese dramas when I was a kid probably because I do not understand Mandarin or perhaps I was just too young to appreciate the story lines.
My next Taiwanese drama will most likely be the highly acclaimed Meteor Garden, then Meteor Garden II, Meteor Rain and Mars, which all stars Vic Zhou. Hahaha! Is that a coincidence or what?
