Last Lap of The Gem of Life
7 February, 2009 – 5:57 pmSo we are already at episode 77 of The Gem of Life. There will be another five more episodes, which means that it is scheduled to conclude on Friday, 13th February, 2009, if everything goes as plan.
You know, it felt like everyone was dying in the end, and I suspect that the mother, Mrs. Hong, will die in episode 78, though I may not be right, but I just calculated, only Derek and Soon Soon died in recent episodes. Melissa and Martin died earlier, though.
While some people say that The Gem of Life is boring, actually, there were some boring episodes but there were twists and turns along the way that makes it worthwhile to watch, all 82 episodes of it. It is a long series so what do we expect, right? There can’t be suspense in every single episode?
The glamour and class that we saw in the beginning of the drama somehow got lost midway to be replaced with corporate scenes. If you love business, this would make a good watch because the plot makes us think.
The character that I feel the most for is Terrence. Here’s a rich son who supposedly is cool and can’t show his emotions or express himself too well, maybe because he’s an only child and grew up in a very protected environment without parental love or friends. He still loves Constance very much and can’t let go of her but there are so many stupid incidences that separates them that you think that these two are not fated to be together. The bad thing about Terrence’s character is the scene where he gave up the chance to save Derek from the burning vehicle.
With the death of Soon Soon, the misunderstanding between Jessica and Terrence gets deeper; the rift is wider. Jessica thinks that Terrence caused the death of Soon Soon but since Constance was with Terrence during the time that Soon Soon was kidnapped by Philip, Constance knows that this has all been a misunderstanding and I believe, this time she would do the right thing and side with Terrence. I guess, this time, she could look beyond the fact that Terrence hurt her once.
For The Gem of Life, even though the storyline is “all that glitters is not gold” and that all three sisters will start from where they began, I really hope that Constance and Terrence will get together again. They really make a matching couple. Terrence, after all, has changed for the better.
Oh, one more thing, The Gem of Life is about to conclude already and I am still not any closer to find out the playlist of the tracks use in Gem of Life. I hope that TVB will release an album of Gem of Life Soundtrack or something. And I’ve also been searching for the Gem of Life promotional song that Astro used. Tough.

IMHO, the show is pretty boring after ep 60. Now I’ve watched till 76 ep. 6 ep to go… although it’s boring but I’ll still finish it.

I think ep. 78 will be interesting. Calvin goes crazy and beats up Sunny after Sylvia says she is stopping their crooked business ways. I guess she had a change of heart after the death of Soon Soon.
