Jang Hyuk [Korean Actor]

5 April, 2009 – 1:01 pm

Last night I was watching this Hollywood/Singaporean movie production, Dance of the Dragon, which stars South Korean Jang Hyuk, Singaporean Fann Wong and American Jason Scott Lee.

The movie is about a Korean country boy, Tae, who dreams of being a professional ballroom dancer. He then journeyed to Singapore against his father’s wishes to study ballroom dancing under former champion Emi Lim (Fann Wong).

The plot is fantastic, interweaving martial arts and dancing, two of my favorite elements in movies but to be honest, I was nodding off every couple of minutes because the pace was just too slow and everyone seemed to whisper instead of talk. Maybe there was something wrong with my ears.

Anyway, after the movie, I thought I would check if the Korean actor had a dance or martial arts background. I couldn’t find this information but was shocked that he was the lead actor in Windstruck.

Windstruck is an awesome movie and although the storyline is great, I have to say that the actor has a forgettable chubby look. My goodness, how much he has changed in a few years. I guess age and military have done his good! He looks so hot with his chiseled features and body in Dance of the Dragon, his first movie after military discharge.

I also found out that Jang Hyuk was in Please Teach Me English. However, I couldn’t remember Jang Hyuk here unless I rewatch it, despite being the male lead here too, but Please Teach Me English is so bloody hilarious it’s worth watching again!
