Google and the Beijing 2008 Olympics

10 August, 2008 – 9:53 am

I use Google search every day, and I mean several times a day. I really enjoy their logo art to celebrate or mark an event because they usually use “water color” style and that is one of my favorite mediums.

I was not surprised that they had a cute logo art to commemorate the Beijing Olympics with the Fuwa mascots, BeiBei, JingJing, YingYing and NiNi carrying the Olympic flag, led by HuanHuan carrying the Olympic torch. HuanHuan himself represents the Olympic flame, by the way.

We are now two days into the Olympics and Google has kept up with their Olympic logos and I expect them to have a new one for the entire duration of the Olympics.

However, what actually disappoints me is that Google artists should have used either BeiBei, JingJing, HuanHuan, YingYing or NiNi in their art work and not a sheep in cycling or a mouse in weightlifting. I don’t know what they were thinking there. I hope that they will rectify this in their upcoming artwork!
