Freedom of Expression, Or The Lack Of
28 July, 2008 – 12:47 pmDo you have freedom of expression in your blogging? I used to think that I could write whatever I want, whatever I feel at the point of jotting down my thoughts. They may be real, they may be made up but with a slew of blogs and a few years of blogging behind me, I have had no problems at all, basically, I think, it was because I have been an anonymous blogger. Even my family members do not know my blogs.
Now that I sometimes reveal my identity and there are people who know me in real life, I feel like I have to think twice before writing what I really want to write. While it has been simple blogging back then without a care in who reads my blog and who does not, now that people who do know me drop by occasionally, I have to check myself.
A check in place seriously curbs my style and frankly, some of my posts will sound stiff. That’s because I am no longer able to express my true feelings at the point of writing. Is anyone facing the same dilemma?
