Don’t You Just Hate It When Your Photo Is Published Online Without Permission?
4 June, 2008 – 6:08 pmMonths ago, when I first joined FaceBook, I realised that a friend of mine published a couple of our group photos on her FaceBook album. When we took the photos, we had a verbal agreement that we would only distribute the photos to those who are in the photos. I was upset but I didn’t say anything. I know that this is not a big deal to most people but I am not “most people” and I don’t want any photo of mine on the web. If I want that, I would publish my photos myself. Anyway, she and all my friends know my stance yet this friend published it online. I believe she did that thinking that I would never find out.
Find out I did, but I pretended I did not know.
Guess what? I think she wanted to bring my attention to her actions. You see, with FaceBook, if I did not view her profile, I would not have known that she has uploaded our photos online since I would not receive notification for her old actions.
Anyway, a couple of days ago, she DELETED her entire album and reuploaded all the photos, tagged everyone in the photos except me and she captioned the photos: VVIP dropped by!
Since she is in my friend’s list, this time, I did get a notification in my mini feed so I saw it. I wonder what she was trying to do. I know that she wanted to bring my attention to her “new” photo album and she surely knows that I would be pissed off, yet she did that.
Obviously, my trust for her has gone down the drain.

Don’t be upset about it. What’s wrong if you photos are online. It’s not like everyone in the world will recognize you. Just warn your friend not to post it again will ya? Facebook is a web serves to be a application that tags people’s photo. Therefore, if you joined facebook, you should know the consequences.

I also don’t like my photos online. But really, nobody cares, so don’t be too concerned with it.

ya i also think it’s pretty weird that you want to have online presence, eg. blog and facebook etc, yet is so phobia about just your photo? If your friend took the photo, then she has every right to publish it on social sites, unless you warn her each and every time. Keeping angry and quiet by yourself isn’t gonna get the message across. Ask her to blur your face in the pic or something then..

Hi Jason,
LOL ya, phobia but I guess it’s my upbringing. We prefer to keep a low profile below the radar.

Hi hyperX,
My friend knows my stance yet she purposely reuploaded her album to bring my attention to it.
I’m not really upset that my photos are on the web but the fact that she felt the need to rub salt to my wound, so to speak.

Hi Foong,
Thanks for your comment. After awhile, I won’t even remember that my photos are online :p but it’s a fact that she betrayed our agreement.

Hi Leona,
Thanks for your input!
No, the photo was taken by someone else and sent to each of us who were in the photos. Anyway, it is not so much about having my photos online but the fact that she took the trouble to bring my attention to my published photos.
I run multiple blogs and websites so if I do want my photos on the web, I have plenty of chances to do it myself. LOL
