Over the past year, I have visited numerous business and trade expositions and one of the best things I like about them are the freebies. It’s not enough that I collect my share of freebies, I even ask my friends to pass me theirs if they have no use for the freebies.

The reason I love collecting promotional items, which range from simple pens to mouse pads, notebooks, hand fans and eco-friendly reusable bags, is because I use these freebies to remember an event by. Exhibitors never fail to take this opportunity to promote their business, printing their website address and other contact information on these promotional products. By having these freebies with me, I remember to visit their website, and maybe hopefully do business with them in the future.

Also, as the owner of a small business with limited budget, these freebies give me plenty of ideas on how to effectively promote my own business. I’ll have to say that companies that make the most impression on me are companies that are innovative and generous in their giveaways. Obviously, I would like to emulate the promotional strategies of the more successful companies, successful in the sense of their ability to leave a lasting impression on me.

Actually, when you think about it, promotional products are inexpensive but by giving them away, we could reach out to so many potential customers. For instance, Superior Promos run monthly specials where pens are as low as $0.22 and “Green” bags are as low as $0.49. Even with my tight budget, I dare say that these prices are extremely affordable. Corporate gifts are of course more expensive but then again, corporations will have a larger budget to maneuver.

I’ve been going through the promotional products offered by Superior Promos, they have such a huge selection that I’m wondering which promotional item to go for!

I had the opportunity to visit my friend at his horse stable last week. He has acquired two new horses which just arrived from New Zealand. Obviously, he was very proud of his new horses and hopes that one day they would become race champions.

I have never been to a horse racing before even though the turf club, one of the largest in the country, is just a stone’s throw away from where I live. However, if my friend’s race horses are entered, of course I would be eager to watch.

According to my friend, he is in the midst of looking for horse insurance and right now busy comparing horse insurance companies. HHmm I didn’t know that one has to purchase horse insurance but it does make sense since he spent a tiny fortune bringing them into the country!

I hope that he would get the paperwork over and done with so that he could start looking for a trainer for his new horses.

I received a message through Facebook the other day from a friend who asked me how I dealt with a sick dog previously, when my dog was bedridden for 7.5 months. It was a very stressful time for me emotionally even though I felt lucky that I could stay home to care for him the entire time he was ill and I was indeed very lucky that I could also support his medical expenses throughout the ordeal.

As you can imagine, keeping up with the expenses of a pet is not easy, what more when he or she is ill. My dog easy ran up a $700 bill a month. I was drained financially because I didn’t have dog insurance and everyone I talked to told me that I should just end it and it will be the best for all parties involved.

But at the end of the 7.5 months and my dog breathed his last, I was glad that I was not the one who killed him. My friend, though, told me that she is going to put her cat to sleep. The cat is suffering from kidney failure and without cat insurance, the financial strain on her family is tremendous. Although there is no right or wrong to pen euthanasia, I still believe it is the best for a pet to go naturally. I hope my friend would be able to cope.
