I came to know of this event when I received an invitation from a Facebook friend. Those of you who play Restaurant City on Facebook will know how frustrating it is to play he game these past few months when we can hardly level up our dishes because we cannot get our hands on sugar, gold dust, candy and raspberry! I know I’m frustrated that I could only get my sugar by planting them and I always get something very common like ginger instead.

I remember missing a cool item just because I couldn’t get to Level 10 for a dish and because of that, I didn’t get the candy maker. It made me lose interest in the game, really, because I cannot progress at all. And trading is of no use since all serious players NEED these ingredients.

If you are as frustrated with the game as thousands of other players, maybe you want to attend this event to boycott Restaurant City for 24 hours this Friday.

This Chinese New Year is exceptionally different because it falls on the same day as Valentine’s Day. As you know, Valentine’s Day is always celebrated on the 14th of February but Chinese New Year is variable because it follows the Chinese lunar calendar.

This year, the first day of Chinese New Year, which is also known as Spring Festival, and the most important day for Chinese around the world, coincidentally fell on 14th February as well. This coincidence has only happened three times in the past 100 years, in 1915, 1934 and 1953. The next one to occur will be in 2048. That’s another 38 years!

Lovely image of Valentine’s cupcakes taken from love-a-cupcake

While such an occurrence is rare, I don’t think many people like it, especially couples who are not married yet. This is because most of us have to celebrate Spring Festival with our families in our hometown, especially for the all-important reunion dinner. My friend told me that the solution to this is to get married!

In any case, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year. May the roar of the tiger bring you much happiness throughout the year!

I did not even remember about Earth Hour until a friend sent me a group invitation on Facebook. Of course, I read about Earth Hour when it was first initiated by World Wide Fund for Nature aka World Wildlife Fund or WWF in short back in 2007 but I didn’t remember that it’s held annually on the last Saturday of March. Why this day in particular? Does anyone know?

Anyway, on the last Saturday of March, this year it falls on 28th March, 2009, where ever you are in the world, to show your support for Earth Hour and to create awareness towards climate change, you are supposed to turn off your lights and electrical appliances for one hour starting from 8.30pm your time.

Frankly, while I support the cause, I am not sure if I could do this. After all, I do need the computer to work and if you know me, I work almost around the clock and normally have the computer switched on and connected to the internet 24/7. Well, perhaps writing about Earth Hour and creating awareness of Earth Hour and its importance through my blog, I am already contributing to the cause!
