Please Keep Donations Rolling In

It has been slightly more than a week since the rescue mission of Pulau Ketam dogs has been mounted which I highlighted three times on my blogs. I have a soft spot for dogs and am outraged by the treatment that has been rendered on the stray dogs of Pulau Ketam. The villagers defended their actions by saying that they opted for this because they did not want the dogs to be killed. Isn’t that ironic?

At first, I was worried that the team of rescuers had to go out to the sea daily on rickety boats and without life jackets. I told my friend that their North face jackets wouldn’t be helpful if they fell into sea. My friend couldn’t even swim well. I reminded him to place the safety of his team first before thinking of rescuing the dogs.

I understand that donations started pouring in from many countries around the world by animal lovers who read of the news online and are just as angered by the actions of the villagers of Pulau Ketam. What worries me now is what if the funds run dry before all the dogs are rescued. As the days drag on, it will become more difficult to sustain the operations or to continue to rescue the surviving dogs that would be able to overcome their injuries and maggot infestations, which is exactly why this rescue mission has to be intensified.

I got to know that Selangor SPCA is also mounting a similar rescue mission and is seeking public donations to fund their operations. However, my support is with Furry Friends Farm because it is a “no kill” sanctuary, which is the whole point of sheltering abandoned animals, right?

Raising Funds To Rescue Pulau Ketam Dogs

I actually was informed yesterday of this rescue mission to save the dogs that were unceremoniously sent to a deserted island off Pulau Ketam but could not find time to write up a post. Time is running out for these poor dogs that have been heartlessly cast away.

The “Stamp Out Hunger” Initiative

I received these in the post this morning, in appreciation of the buzz I helped to create for the 2008 16th Stamp Out Hunger campaign that took place on 10th May, 2008.

I think it’s an excellent idea that somebody is DOING something instead of just pledging or talking, to help the hungry people in America.

Yes, do not be surprised that there are still many people who go hungry in America, there are many people who are homeless too, according to my friend, Paul. He should know since he lives in New York. The cost of living is so high in America that nobody could afford to lose their jobs.

My sister tells me that the price of gas in Tennessee where she lives is US$4 per gallon and that has caused plenty of financial hardships on everyone. So I think it’s excellent that those who CAN, do it for the less fortunate people.

I don’t know yet when this Stamp Out Hunger campaign will be next year but I’ll keep you posted so that more people could participate!
