Café World [Facebook Game]
4 October, 2009 – 1:25 pmZynga, the developer of Mafia Wars game, has launched a new game called Café World. Well, you know these game developers, when they see a game gaining popularity; they try to come out with something similar. A good example is all those farming games like Barn Buddy, Country Story, Farm Town, FarmVille etc.

Like most of my friends on Facebook, I am busy playing it and trying to level up. I have to admit that I actually installed the game to see how similar it is with Restaurant City. I have to say that playing Café World would take up way too much time since we would need to buy the ingredients, click the stove to cook, serve, clean the stove, etc.

All these tasks would involve time spent playing the game, unlike Restaurant City where I just run it on a different tab on my browser and feed on my staff occasionally. The bad thing about Café World, to me, is that we have to remember when our dishes would be ready to be served. Like some farming games, failure to log in to the game would cause our crops to be burnt and wasted. This is the same for the dishes in Café World as well. My inability to log in at just the right time is the reason why I only plant fruit tress in FarmVille.
Another bone I have to pick with Café World is that we have to send neighbour request one by one to our friends who have also installed Café World, just like FarmVille and other games that are developed using the same module. This is why I prefer Restaurant City. Our friends get added as neighbours as soon as they installed the game. Of course, we have to reload the game to see it but that’s a lot better than adding neigbours one by one. I thought that Mafia Wars was bad but at least we get to send out a mass invitation to 30 friends a day at once!

Every time I try to play this game it freezes up. I play Mafia Wars with no problem. Even after I close the tab, my computer drags. Why is that?

Hi Kim,
Games like Café World, Pet Society, Restaurant City and FarmVille are very resource hungry. I experience the same thing as well on an older computer system.
You can toggle the game to a lower quality and it will run smoother, but not as nice looking.

I report myself as another Cafe World addict
@Kim I`ve tried playing CW in Firefox and Chrome and I noticed it runs smoother in Google Chrome. And as Emily says, the graphic quality is a good solution as well.
